The Holland Proton Therapy Centre (HollandPTC), founded by Erasmus Medical Centre, Leiden University Medical Cen-tre and TU Delft, is an active partnership between these or-ganizations in which they collaborate in the fields of healthcare, education, and groundbreaking research. The Centre has also established partnerships with other national and international proton centers.
HollandPTC is an independent outpatient clinic and re-search centre, located in Delft. The centre has two proton gantries with in-room CT imaging, a treatment room for the irradiation of eye tumors, and a bunker with a proton bun-dle for research. In addition, the centre has modern imaging equipment, including a dual-energy CT, a 3T MRI, and a PET/CT.
HollandPTC’s mission is to provide patients with the best proton therapy presently available, in a safe and welcoming environment, where they are treated with care and
diligence. In addition, we have a comprehensive R&D
programme together with our founding parties. Our mission is to prove the added value of proton therapy, which we do in cooperation with the national and international radio-therapy and oncology community. Our ambition is to be-come a leading institute for therapy and scientific research.
The department of medical physics & informatics
As medical physicist you are member of the department of medical physics & informatics and report to the head of this department. At present, the department has room for seven medical physicists, and has an additional staff of about nine, including project physicists, medical physics en-gineers, and a medical IT professional.
Job description
As a clinical physicist you are closely involved in the treat-ment of patients and you are responsible for the quality and safety of medical equipment. You also have a leading role in the introduction of new techniques in clinical practice. You work together with colleagues from various disciplines in various multidisciplinary clinical and research groups. One of our focus areas is the development and implementation of advanced treatment planning for proton therapy and
image-guided and (online)-adaptive proton therapy. A com-bination of the tasks described with scientific research is possible.
What we look for?
We are looking for a proactive and result-oriented profes-sional with a flexible attitude who works well in a team and project-based way. You preferably have experience with proton therapy and state-of-the-art treatment planning. You have the ambition to work at the forefront of the de-velopment of proton therapy in the Netherlands and glob-ally. You have a registration as a medical physicist in the field of radiotherapy, or a recognized registration as a medi-cal physicist in another country that can lead to registration in the Netherlands. You are proficient in Dutch (or are will-ing to learn the language) and English. We also invite candi-dates who will soon complete the training for medical phys-icists to respond.
Being able to submit a Certificate of Conduct is a condition for the appointment.
Terms of employment
Your contract will be for 36 hours a week, for a period of 1 year with option for an indefinite period after 1 year, on the condition of 2 positive appraisals in the first year and un-changed company circumstances. The Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch University Medical Centers (CAO UMC) applies; depending on education, qualifications, rec-ord, experience and if the Dutch registration as a medical physicist in radiotherapy has been obtained, the maximum salary is € 6,066.- (scale 13) or € 6,665.- (scale 14) plus 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
We also provide a commuting allowance of € 0.19 per kilo-metre and, if applicable, a moving allowance. You will have access to a personal accreditation budget of € 6,121.- per year. The starting date will be agreed with the successful candidate, but can be at short notice or sometime in the next few months.
If you are not a Dutch national and start work in the Nether-lands, you may be eligible for a tax break, which means that 30% of your wage is paid tax-free.
